Family trip to Vaitheeswaran and Thirumanancheri

Posted by Bala on December 31, 2009

After a long time, last weekend we (my family) had been to Vaitheeswaran temple and Thirumanancheri , 25th dec to be precise. This is the first long trip ever since my mom recovered from her health problems. We started the trip in our sumo from Dharmapuri, decided to take the route suggested by Google Maps (Dharmapuri – Salem – Attur – Viruthachalam – Chidambaram – Seerkazhi – Vaitheeswaran). Till Salem, the journey was smooth, once past Salem, from Attur to Chidambaram, it was a nightmare. To be honest, I never seen such a worst road in my entire life, it took about 4 hours to cross 130 KMs. My Mom was not comfortable at all during the journey. We reached Vaitheeswaran Kovil around 6:30 am. After we refreshed, visited the temple. Vaitheeswaran temple is one of the Navagraha temples and this temple is devoted to Angaraka (Mars / Sevvai). We had good dharshan and left to Thirumanancheri temple afterwards. The travel to Thirumanancheri was nice, temple was surrounded by agriculture lands. After finishing the parihara pooja at Thirumanancheri, we started back to Dharmapuri. This time we enquired and decided to take up a different route (Vaitheeswaran Kovil – Seerkazhi Chidambaram Vadalur Panruti Tirukkoyilur Thiruvannamalai ChengamDharmapuri). The road was far better than the other road and we had a nice return journey. It’s worth mentioning about Kollidam River which I have seen during this trip, it is very vast and nice to see.

Trip to Madurai & Rameshwaram

Posted by Bala on July 1, 2008

Last month June 13th, one of my college friend got married in Madurai. The same weekend me and my parents planned for a trip to Madurai and Rameshwaram. I started from Bangalore by train, my parents and one of our family friend’s family started from Dharmapuri and my brother started from Chennai and joined in Madurai. Visited Azhagar Kovil, Palamuthircholai, Thiruparankundram, Madurai meenakshi amman temple on Friday and started to Ramehswaram on Saturday morning. It was a nice long journey and this is my first time to Rameshwaram, so I was amazed to travel on the Pamban bridge and to see the waveless sea. The sea near the temple is not very clean because of the poojas they make for their ancestors and since there is no waves the sea will not the push the things out of water which normally all seas do.

Next day morning we went to the temple and had dharshinam of Sapidaga lingam (ச்படிக லிங்கம்). Sapidaga Lingam dharshinam is allowed every day morning between 5 AM and 6 AM. Inside Rameshwaram temple there 22 theerthams which are shallow waters of the sea extending upto some metres. Hindus believe that a bath in all of these theerthams will remove our sins. In legend, Lord SriRam took a bath in Agni theertham after killing Ravana and worshipped the deity here. Hence these theerthams are considered as holy for pilgrims.

In the afternoon we went to Dhanushkodi, the end of Indian border 🙂 the sea water was fantastic with huge waves, the beach is very clean unlike few other beaches in India.

Then returned back home carrying of lot of enjoyment in memories.

Adding one more picture after the comments from my juniors… 🙂

Trip to Gokarna, Murudeshwar and Kollur

Posted by Bala on May 16, 2007

This trip with my cousin and his friends was planned a month ago. Initially we decided to go for Gokarna and Goa (if possible). But due to some problems we decided not to go for Goa, as Goa is not a place to be seen in a single day. We started bit late on Friday night, and reached Gokarna in the morning around 10:00. Gokarna beach is a really nice place to visit. It has 4 beaches, and we visited Om Beach. Om Beach is really nice. I never seen a ocean standing on a high hill. It was such good sight seeing. We played in the beach sand and enjoyed the time over there. From there we started around 05:00 to Murudeshwar and reached there by 09:00, we took a cottage near to Beach and it was amazing view of the sea. The sea on three sides surrounds the temple towering on the small hill called Kanduka Giri. Recently a Lord Shiva idol erected beside the temple. The idol towers 123 feet into the sky and is the tallest Shiva idol in the world. We went for a boating inside the sea. In the half way mid, the boat’s motor got switched off and we started shouting, every one get down and start pushing the boat 😀 From there we started to Kollur Mookambika temple. From there we started to Bangalore and reached by morning 05:00. Overall its a nice trip.

Madurai trip || Birth of the Year – 2006

Posted by Bala on January 3, 2006

I went to Madurai on December 29th and 30th. On 29th Evening i reached college and met senthil. He took me to the newly setted CCC Lab at college. The Lab is really fine and the thing which i needed when i studied in college had been granted i.e 24 hrs Lab 🙂 The CCC Lab had the newly bought HP servers, Blade Servers, NAS Box, SAN Box and many more. But as usual, most of the students using the system for checking mails. The admin of the lab really worried about this. Students must use this kind of opportunity for some good things not only for checking mails. That night me, senthil and praveen had a discussion about the current New TCENet development. On Friday i went to college to collect the Provisional Certificate and there i met the newly joined TCENet students. Had a nice chat with them. Started from madurai that night and reached Dharmapuri. Started to Bangalore on Saturday for celebrating new year 2006.
For the last 4 year i celebrated the New year in Hostel and this year in Bangalore at Uncle’s house.
We bought cakes, cool drink to celebrate the new year. Exactly at 12:00, my cousin sliced the cake. The next moment most of the cake creams was in the face of us. Till 2’0 clock the celebration continues with dancing, chatting. In short we enjoyed a lot for this new year.
On Jan 1st evening me and my cousins went to Market show in Cox town. The next day the as usual routine starts.
