என்.சொக்கன் எழுதிய அண்ணாவின் ஒரு விரிவான வாழ்க்கை வரலாறு.

அண்ணாவைப் பற்றிய கதைகளை, சாதனைகளை நான் என்னுடைய சிறிய வயதிலிருந்தே கேட்டுள்ளேன். இதற்கு முக்கிய காரணமானவர் என் அப்பா, அவர் ஒரு தீவிரமான தி.மு.க தொண்டர். அண்ணாவைத் தன் சொந்த அண்ணாவாக ஏற்றுக்கொண்ட பல்லாயிரக் கணக்கான தம்பிகளில் என் அப்பாவும் ஒருவர். இருப்பினும் எனக்கு எப்போதும் அண்ணாவின் வாழ்க்கை வரலாற்றைப் படிக்க வேண்டும் என்று தோன்றியது இல்லை.

“குள்ளமான உருவம். ஆனாலும் அண்ணாந்து மட்டுமே பார்க்க முடிகிறது. அவரால் தொட முடிந்த சில உயரங்களை இன்று வரை இன்னொருவரால் நெருங்க முடியவில்லை. ஒரு விரிவான வாழ்க்கை வரலாறு” என்று புத்தகத்தின் முன் பக்கத்தில் பார்த்த உடன் இந்த புத்தகத்தைப் படிக்கும் ஆசை வந்தது. சென்னை புத்தகக் காட்சியில் வாங்கிய புத்தகங்களில் இதுவும் ஒன்று. வேலையின் பளு காரணமாக வாங்கிய புத்தகங்களை படிக்காமல் வைத்து இருந்தேன். கடந்த சில வாரங்களாக வாங்கிய புத்தங்களைப் படிக்க ஆரம்பித்தேன். மேலே சொன்ன காரணத்துக்காக இந்த புத்தகத்தை முதலில் படிக்க ஆரம்பித்தேன்.

ஒரு சில பக்கங்களைப் படித்த பின் மீண்டும் முதலில் இருந்து படிக்கும் ஆர்வம் அவ்வப்போது எழுந்தது. இதனால் புத்தகத்தை முழுவதும் படித்து முடிக்கும் முன்னரே இருமுறை முதலில் இருந்து படிக்க ஆரம்பித்தேன். அவ்வளவு எளிமையாகவும், அழகாகவும் எழுதியுள்ளார் சொக்கன் அவர்கள். இதில் வரும் பல சம்பவங்கள் என் அப்பா முலமாக ஏற்கனவே எனக்கு தெரிந்தவை என்றாலும் இப்புத்தகம் முதல் முறை படிக்கும் அனுபவத்தை அழகாக கொடுத்துள்ளது. சிறு வயதில் இருந்த அவருடைய குணாதியசங்களைப் பற்றியும், படிப்பில் அவருடைய ஈடுபாடுகள், அரசியலில் அவருடைய அணுகுமுறைகள் பற்றியும் மிகத் தெளிவாக எழுதியுள்ளார் சொக்கன். படிக்கும் காலத்தில் படிப்பை மட்டுமே கவனத்தில் வைக்க வேண்டும் என்ற கொள்கையை அண்ணா வலியுறுத்தியும் அதைக் கடைப்பிடித்தும் வாழ்ந்துள்ளார்.

அரசியல் நாகரீகம் என்றால் என்ன என்று தெரிந்து கொள்ள வேண்டும் என்றால் அண்ணாவின் வாழ்க்கையை அறிந்து கொண்டால் போதும். கலைத் துறையில் மிகவும் ஈடுபாடு கொண்ட அண்ணா, அதன் மூலம் சொல்ல வந்த கருத்துகளை மிகத் தெளிவாகவும், ஆணித்தரமாகவும் சொல்ல முடியும் என்பதை அறிந்து அதை நல்ல முறையில் உபயோகித்தவர். இந்த விஷயத்தில் பெரியார் அண்ணாவிற்கு எதிரான கருத்து கொண்டு இருந்தார் என்பது மிகவும் ஆச்சரியமூட்டியது.

அண்ணா-பெரியாரின் உறவை விளக்கிய விதம் அருமை. இது போன்ற இன்னொரு உறவை பார்க்க முடியமா என்பது அரிதே.

இப்புத்தகம், நீதிக் கட்சியிலிருந்து திராவிட முன்னேற்றக் கழகம் உருவானது வரையிலான சரித்திரத்தைத் தெளிவாக விளக்கியுள்ளது.

தி.மு.க 1967 பொதுத் தேர்தலில் வெற்றி பெற்ற பின், கட்சி ஆரம்பித்து 18 ஆண்டுகளுக்குள் ஆட்சிக்கு வருவது சரியா என்று எண்ணியுள்ளார் அண்ணா. காங்கரஸில் காமராஜர் போன்ற பெருந்தலைகள் தோல்வியைக் கண்டு வருத்தம் தெரிவித்து, எதிர் கட்சியில் அருகதை உள்ள நல்ல தலைவர்கள் இல்லாமல் போனதே என்றும் வருத்தம் தெரிவித்துள்ளார். இது போன்ற சம்பவங்கள் மூலம், அண்ணாவின் அரசியல் நாகரிகங்களைத் தெளிவாக படம் பிடித்துக் காட்டியுள்ளது இப்புத்தகம்.

தி.மு.கவின் ஆட்சியில் அண்ணாவின் சாதனைகளைப் பட்டியல் இட்ட போது இரண்டு ஆண்டுகள் தான் அண்ணா முதல்வராக இருந்தார் என்று என் அப்பா கூறியது எனக்குள் ஆச்சரியத்தை ஏற்படுத்தியது. அந்த ஆச்சிரியத்தை சொக்கன் அவர்களே இப்புத்தகத்தில் வெளிக்காட்டியுள்ளார்.

இப்புத்தகத்தின் பின் அட்டையில் “இனி ஆளுங்கட்சியாக இருந்தாலும் சரி. எதிர்க்கட்சியாக இருந்தாலும் சரி. அண்ணாவின் பெயரைச் சொல்லாமல் எந்தவொரு சக்தியாலும் இன்று அரசியல் செய்ய முடியாது” என்பது எவ்வளவு பெரிய உண்மை என்பதை புத்தகத்தை முடிக்கும் போது உணர்ந்தேன்.

இந்த புத்தகத்தை எழுதிய என்.சொக்கன் அவர்களுக்கும், பதிப்பித்த கிழக்கு பதிப்பகத்திற்கும் எனது நன்றி.

புத்தகக் காட்சிக்கு சென்ற அதே நாளில் சென்னை சங்கமமும் துவங்கி இருந்தது. எதேர்ச்சையாக மெரினா கடற்கரை செல்லும் போது, சென்னை சங்கமம் விளம்பரங்களை தாங்கிய பேருந்துகள் கிராமிய கலைஞர்களின் ஆட்டம் பாட்டத்தினுடன் வந்து கொண்டு இருந்தது. அதை எனது மொபைலில் வீடியோ படம் எடுத்து வைத்தேன். அந்த வீடியோ உங்கள் பார்வைக்கு,

பேருந்தில் வந்தவர்களில் கையில் கடாயூத்துடன் வேடம் போட்டு இருந்தவர், பார்த்த அனைவரையும் கவர்ந்தார்.

சென்னை புத்தகக் காட்சி 2010

சென்ற வாரம் ஞாயிற்றுகிழமை (10-01-2010) அன்று 33வது சென்னை புத்தகக் காட்சி செல்ல வாய்ப்பு கிடைத்தது. இது வரை நான் அதிகமாக புத்தகங்கள் வாங்கியதும் இல்லை, படித்ததும் இல்லை. இதில் இருந்தே எனது இலக்கிய ஆவலை தெரிந்து கொள்ளலாம். அதற்கு காரணம் நான் வளர்ந்த சூழ்நிலை. ஆனால் 2008-ல் பொன்னியின் செல்வன் ~~புத்தகத்தை~~ வாழ்க்கையை நண்பன் சொல்வதை கேட்டு படித்தேன், அதன் பிறகு தான் புத்தகங்கள் படிக்கும் ஆர்வம் எனக்கு பிறந்தது, அதே வேகத்தில் பார்த்திபன் கனவு, என் இனிய இயந்திரா, மீண்டும் ஜீனோ, சுஜாதாவின் சிறு கதைகள் என்று தேடி படிக்க ஆரம்பித்தேன். ஏனோ, சில மாதங்களுக்கு பிறகு புத்தகங்கள் படிப்பது குறைந்தது. பல பதிவர்களின் நல்ல சிறுகதைகள் படித்ததின் தாக்கமாக இருக்கலாம். பதிவர்களின் கதைகளை படிக்க ஆரம்பித்த பிறகு, நல்ல பதிவுகளை தேடி படிக்க ஆரம்பித்தேன். வேலை பளு காரணமாக கடந்த சில மாதங்களாக அதுவும் குறைந்தது. சில நாட்களாக செந்தில் குமரன் எழுதி வரும் கிழக்கு பதிப்பக புத்தகங்களின் விமர்சனங்கள் மூலமாக என்னுள் மீண்டும் புத்தகம் படிக்கும் ஆவல் துளிர்த்தது. கடந்த வாரம் சென்னை செல்ல வாய்ப்பு கிடைத்ததால் புத்தகக் காட்சியை காண முடிவு செய்தேன். அங்கே சென்று கிழக்கு பதிப்பகத்தில் இருந்து பல புத்தகங்களை எடுத்தேன். என்னுடைய பொருளாதார பயத்தால் சில புத்தங்களை மனமில்லாமல் திரும்ப வைத்துவிட்டு, கையில் 7 புத்தங்கள் மட்டும் எடுத்து வந்தேன். இப்போது கையில் இருக்கும் 7 புத்தங்களை படித்து விட்டு அந்த அனுபவத்தை இங்கே எழுத ஆசை உள்ளது.

I feel it is not so late to put this post, but Better Late than Never, Bye Bye 2009!!! Just recollecting about the things happened in 2009. This year left a remarkable trace in my life. Lots of learning both professionally and personally. In the professional front, visited TCE couple of times. Started to contribute again for TCENet and supported few projects in College. Started few individual projects which are yet to be completed. In the personal front, struggled a lot to get my mother back to normal health condition, advised (bored??) my brother a lot, made new friends, got answered for many confusions which was running for long time in my mind. While writing this post, I was thinking whether did I read Ponniyin Selvan in 2009? So that I can mention it about my first book reading, but found that I read it last in June 2008. Oops!!! Time is running like anything

Family trip to Vaitheeswaran and Thirumanancheri

After a long time, last weekend we (my family) had been to Vaitheeswaran temple and Thirumanancheri , 25th dec to be precise. This is the first long trip ever since my mom recovered from her health problems. We started the trip in our sumo from Dharmapuri, decided to take the route suggested by Google Maps (Dharmapuri – Salem – Attur – Viruthachalam – Chidambaram – Seerkazhi – Vaitheeswaran). Till Salem, the journey was smooth, once past Salem, from Attur to Chidambaram, it was a nightmare. To be honest, I never seen such a worst road in my entire life, it took about 4 hours to cross 130 KMs. My Mom was not comfortable at all during the journey. We reached Vaitheeswaran Kovil around 6:30 am. After we refreshed, visited the temple. Vaitheeswaran temple is one of the Navagraha temples and this temple is devoted to Angaraka (Mars / Sevvai). We had good dharshan and left to Thirumanancheri temple afterwards. The travel to Thirumanancheri was nice, temple was surrounded by agriculture lands. After finishing the parihara pooja at Thirumanancheri, we started back to Dharmapuri. This time we enquired and decided to take up a different route (Vaitheeswaran Kovil – Seerkazhi – Chidambaram - Vadalur - Panruti – Tirukkoyilur - Thiruvannamalai - Chengam – Dharmapuri). The road was far better than the other road and we had a nice return journey. It’s worth mentioning about Kollidam River which I have seen during this trip, it is very vast and nice to see.

Wireless Driver issue in Ubuntu 9.10 for Compaq CQ40

On Tuesday night I installed Ubuntu 9.10 on my friend’s Compaq CQ40 Laptop. The installation went fine and there was no issues. Most of drivers got detected automatically and everything was fine except the Wireless LAN card. With “lspci” command I found the name of the Wireless manufacturer as BroadCom BCM4312 802.11b/g. Then with help of my junior Senthil Kumaran S, we found that we need to install bcmwl-kernel-source which is available in Ubuntu Repository and a restart of the system made the Wireless card to work properly. Thanks to Ubuntu Forums for pointing out this in the below mentioned thread.

Python Presentation at TCE – FDP

Almost after 2.5 years, I took a presentation for a group of people in Thiagarajar college of Engineering on 04-Dec-09. It was a training program on FOSS to Faculty in southern region colleges.

FOSEEE in association with ILUGC and Thiagarajar College of Engineering conducted this workshop. It was a 5 day training program in which I handled Python Programming session on Day 5. The session went on well, I guess the participants were able to understand the concepts.

Thanks to Dr.Shalinie mam (HODCSE) and Padmavathi mam who invited me for this talk.

Thanks to Senthil Kumaran (stylesen) who shared his Python presentation which he used in a different occasion. It was a nice presentation so most of the thing was copied from his slides

Problems in upgrading Ubuntu 9.04 from Ubuntu 8.10 in Virtualbox

I have using Virtualbox for more than 6 months and I was satisfied to use it. I was using my Virtualbox with Ubuntu 8.04 LTS. Yesterday I added one more virtual machine with Ubuntu 8.10 since my Ubuntu 8.04 was crashed and unable to recover. After installing Ubuntu 8.10, I have installed VBOXGuest Additions and after that I have updated to Ubuntu 9.04. When restarted the system after the upgrdation is done, I got the following error:

Ubuntu is running in low-graphics mode

The following error was encoutered. You may need
to update your configuration to solve it.

(EE) module ABI major version (4) doesn’t match the
server’s version (5)
(EE) failed to load module “vboxvideo” (module requirement
mismatch,0)
(EE) No drivers available.

After googling, I have found the solution from Virtualbox Forum. Steps to follow to get back the normal smooth booting.

- select the offered low resolution startup mode,
- Ubuntu will complain that something is on display:0 and it will try to start the x server on display:1
- accept it, Ubuntu starts
- install Guest Additions,
- and finally restart the operating system.

To avoid this you can reinstall Guest Additions first before restarting the system after successful upgradation.

Sometimes, even the above steps will not come because of misbehaved UI. So, in that case, you can have do the installation from CLI. Follow these steps,

1. sudo apt-get install build-essential linux-headers-generic

2. sudo mount /dev/scd0 /media/cdrom

3. sudo sh ./VBoxLinuxAdditions-x86.run
