I have using Virtualbox for more than 6 months and I was satisfied to use it. I was using my Virtualbox with Ubuntu 8.04 LTS. Yesterday I added one more virtual machine with Ubuntu 8.10 since my Ubuntu 8.04 was crashed and unable to recover. After installing Ubuntu 8.10, I have installed VBOXGuest Additions and after that I have updated to Ubuntu 9.04. When restarted the system after the upgrdation is done, I got the following error:

Ubuntu is running in low-graphics mode

The following error was encoutered. You may need
to update your configuration to solve it.

(EE) module ABI major version (4) doesn’t match the
server’s version (5)
(EE) failed to load module “vboxvideo” (module requirement
mismatch,0)
(EE) No drivers available.

After googling, I have found the solution from Virtualbox Forum. Steps to follow to get back the normal smooth booting.

- select the offered low resolution startup mode,
- Ubuntu will complain that something is on display:0 and it will try to start the x server on display:1
- accept it, Ubuntu starts
- install Guest Additions,
- and finally restart the operating system.

To avoid this you can reinstall Guest Additions first before restarting the system after successful upgradation.

Sometimes, even the above steps will not come because of misbehaved UI. So, in that case, you can have do the installation from CLI. Follow these steps,

1. sudo apt-get install build-essential linux-headers-generic

2. sudo mount /dev/scd0 /media/cdrom

3. sudo sh ./VBoxLinuxAdditions-x86.run

Its almost a year i have blogged. Now I am thinking about blogging small tips on computers which learn day to day for my use and in that list this is going to be my first blog entry.

Most of the times when browsing through any site I have been attracted by the Header images which have been used. But it will be very difficult to find the font used for the same. Stuck up with a same situation yesterday, I googled and found the site WhatTheFont. In this site you can find the font used for text in the image in 3 easy steps. The good thing about the site is that if the system doesn’t finds a exact match for the font, it will show the closer match for the same.

Step 1: Upload the image to the site for which font needs to be identified or provide the URL for the image

Step 2: The system will identify the letters in the font and provide you a list, you have check whether the entries are correct and some times you may be asked to enter the characters to identify.

Step 3: Once identification of letters, is complete and submitted, the fonts matched for the image will be shown.

Not only the exact matches it will also show the matches closer to the image. This help us to find even more better fonts and you can buy from their site if you need those fonts

And if you are not able to find any fonts of your choice you can use their WhatTheFont Forum (I haven’t used their Forum)

Last month June 13th, one of my college friend got married in Madurai. The same weekend me and my parents planned for a trip to Madurai and Rameshwaram. I started from Bangalore by train, my parents and one of our family friend’s family started from Dharmapuri and my brother started from Chennai and joined in Madurai. Visited Azhagar Kovil, Palamuthircholai, Thiruparankundram, Madurai meenakshi amman temple on Friday and started to Ramehswaram on Saturday morning. It was a nice long journey and this is my first time to Rameshwaram, so I was amazed to travel on the Pamban bridge and to see the waveless sea. The sea near the temple is not very clean because of the poojas they make for their ancestors and since there is no waves the sea will not the push the things out of water which normally all seas do.

Next day morning we went to the temple and had dharshinam of Sapidaga lingam (ச்படிக லிங்கம்). Sapidaga Lingam dharshinam is allowed every day morning between 5 AM and 6 AM. Inside Rameshwaram temple there 22 theerthams which are shallow waters of the sea extending upto some metres. Hindus believe that a bath in all of these theerthams will remove our sins. In legend, Lord SriRam took a bath in Agni theertham after killing Ravana and worshipped the deity here. Hence these theerthams are considered as holy for pilgrims.

In the afternoon we went to Dhanushkodi, the end of Indian border the sea water was fantastic with huge waves, the beach is very clean unlike few other beaches in India.

Then returned back home carrying of lot of enjoyment in memories.

Me and my friend went for a company training to Gurgaon. As planned we started 2 days early and reached New Delhi on June 7th. We booked packages for New Delhi and Agra in Panicker Travels. In Agra visited Agra Fort, Taj Mahal and the way back to New Delhi went to Mathura, birth place of Lord Krishna. Delhi package covered India gate, Humayun’s Tomb, Qutub minar

It supports most of the sites which provides Media RSS. Some of the popular sites are Picasa, YouTube, Flickr, Phoyobucket, Google Images Search,  Yahoo Images Search etc.

This add on helps to view all the pictures/videos shown on the website in a fraction of second. I personally  tried the application and found to be useful.

Dasavatharam, the most expected film of tamil industry in 2007 – 08 featuring Kamal and Asin as lead actors had made his ground to the public. Kamal acted in 10 different roles and Asin in 2 different roles. I watched the movie on the fourth day. The film is based on Chaos theory. Though kamal tries to explain the chaos theory, few of the scenes confuses the viewers or I don’t know whether few scenes are deleted from the movie to shorten the film. The entire film has shown the happenings from 20-Dec-2004 to 26-Dec-2004.

The first 10 mins of the film is really superb, he proves that he is ulaga nayagan by his acting.Few characters can be avoided but he has shown the link between every characters.

The roles I really like are

1. Rangarajan Nambi – Vaishanavan

2. Balram Naidu – Telugu intelligence officer

3. Fletcher – The Killer, an X-CIA.

4. Vincent Poovaraagan – A Dalit who cares about the world & environment.

This film will be trend setter in tamil by making others to use the technologies to the maximum extent.

No words to review this movie. What all i can do is cry for wasting my money and my recommendation is Don’t waste even a single penny for watching this movie.
